Billy gave us our daily bread for 32 years

Long-time bread seller retires

Full circle: Almost 32 years after his first delivery to Thomas’, Billy Watson, centre, makes his final bread delivery to Graham and Sue Thomas’ store.

Narrabri’s Billy Watson is a familiar face in Narrabri and has for decades been well known as the community’s bread delivery man.
Now, after almost 32 years bringing us our daily bread Mr Watson has ‘semi retired’.
“It’s been a good life,” he said.
Retirement doesn’t mean leaving town or planning to sit on the verandah. Mr Watson has pulled back from the delivery business but will keep busy in other activities.
Mr Watson had moved to Bellata with his family when he was 11, went on to marry Sue Cooper, and together they ran the Edgeroi store and fuel stop for four years.
“We sold the house at Edgeroi, moved to Wat-a-view on the Gunnedah Road and finally to Beatrice Street 22 years ago.”
It’s been a busy three decades since he started his delivery business in 1986.
