If last Thursday night is anything to go by, hopefully this year’s Narrabri Showgirl competition is going to be a great contest.
About 12 prospective entrants in the junior and senior categories of the event, held in conjunction with the Narrabri Show, met reigning senior Showgirl Ellen John, some of last year’s junior contestants and Showgirl convenor Rebecca Cope at Maverick Cafe for an information evening.
Ms Cope said the evening, a first, went well, with “an absolutely wonderful” turnout.
She decided to hold it after last year’s contest so young women could find out more about what Showgirl is all about, rather than just relying on entries from existing methods of marketing.
“It was a new avenue to go down to reach a wider pool of applicants,” she said.
