2018 Narrabri Shire Citizen of the Year awarded to Dawn Armstrong at Friday’s Australia Day ceremony

A tireless and energetic voluntary worker for the community over many decades, Dawn Armstrong was applauded as the 2018 Narrabri Shire Citizen of the Year at Friday’s Australia Day ceremony.

Mrs Armstrong’s long history of service was read to the audience at the Narrabri Aquatic Centre by the mayor Cathy Redding and the Citzen of the Year was presented with her award by the shire’s Australia Day Ambassador, Kathy Koschel.

“Mrs Armstrong is a highly valued member of a variety of local clubs and organisations and is known for her drive, determination, and seemingly endless supply of energy” the mayor said in the award winner’s citation.

“A few of the many organisations that Mrs Armstrong has been an integral part of over the years include Narrabri Lioness Club, Meals on Wheels, Narrabri Show Society Ladies Auxiliary, Red Cross. Mrs Armstrong is a life member of Save Sight, the Ladies Bowling Club and has been a volunteer with the hospital auxiliary for over 16 years.”
