A forum focussed on how to navigate the drought currently affecting much of NSW was held at the Narrabri RSL yesterday, August 8.
A wide selection of government agencies and support services all gathered in one place to assist drought-affected families by giving out advice and information.
Everything from CentreLink and the Australian Tax Office, through to the Department of Human Services, health networks, rural financial counselling services, the Salvation Army and the CWA had representatives there.
The event was well attended, and, while leaflets and information packages were distributed, it was the human side of the interaction which stood out.
“The forums have been an eye-opener for us,” said Darren Glanville, senior director of small business with the ATO.
