From Iraq to Wee Waa

Meet Wee Waa's two new police officers.

Senior Constable Scott O’Brien and his wife and fellow police officer Megan are enjoying their new roles at Wee Waa police station.

It’s a long way from the battlefields of Iraq to Wee Waa, but that’s the journey one of Wee Waa’s newest police officers has made.
Senior Constable Scott O’Brien and his wife and fellow officer Megan recently started at the Wee Waa police station.
They come from varying backgrounds, but are more than happy to be here.
The couple shifted here from Kempsey, where they had been stationed for five years. Prior to that they been at Maroubra, where they met.
Both also hail from the Port Macquarie area, but from there their paths initially diverged.
Scott O’Brien spent some time in primary school in Moree, where his father was working for the power company and mother in aged care.
After leaving school, he decided to join the Army.
That was in 2000, and when he left eight years later as a Corporal, he had completed three tours of Iraq.
“It was a great experience,” he said.
