In honour of Peter Chapman

Exhibition to showcase famed Narrabri illustrator

The late Peter Chapman was one of Australia’s foremost illustrators in his heyday, and now the former Narrabri resident’s work is about to go on display to a new generation.

Mr Chapman, who died in 2016 at the age of 91, will be the subject of a two-week exhibition to be held at Macquarie University in Sydney from May 16.

The exhibition has been in the pipeline for some years - Mr Chapman was involved in discussions in 2015 - and his widow Meg Madden said she was thrilled that it had come about.

“I’ve just been waiting for so long,” she said.

The exhibition is the brainchild of Peter Doyle, an Associate Professor in media at the university. He was in Narrabri on Saturday to take much of Mr Chapman’s collection back to Sydney.
