Is the end in sight?

Meeting held in Narrabri to discuss farmer response to land clearing reforms

NSW Farmers Narrabri branch treasurer Liz Tomlinson and president Matt Norrie flank the guest speakers at Thursday’s forum David Edmondson (Western Land Planning, Dubbo), Frances Wright (Local Land Services sustainable land management office, Gunnedah), Caleb Doyle (Local Land Services sustainable land management office, Moree) and Adair Moar (NSW Farmers environment policy director).

Proposed land clearing reforms have been 22 years in the making, and while the finish line looks to be in sight, local farmers are not so sure.
About 30 farmers attended a NSW Farmers-organised meeting at Narrabri RSL on Thursday to discuss the draft Local Land Services Amendment Regulations and Biodiversity Conservation Act, which are on public exhibition and open for submissions until Wednesday, June 21. They heard from representatives of Local Land Services, NSW Farmers and a private consultant who has some experience with the proposed laws.
