Organisers were delighted with the official switching on of the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree lights event in Maitland Street on Thursday night.

A large audience of families gathered, excited children met Santa, joined in singing Christmas carols and counted down to the switching on of the lights.

Eight-year-old Aleira Sunderland’s entry was chosen from among the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Colouring competition entrants to have the honour of turning on the lights.

Carollers were led by talented local musicians Gilly Goddard, Leon Cunningham and Lauren Brown, accompanied by the Narrabri Shire Band, and the Christmas message was given in a thoughtful and engaging presentation from Josh Pattison.
