The people have spoken - now let’s see where it takes us.
Narrabri Shire Council recently released its community engagement report, the result of workshops held over several months involving 1224 members of the public in just about every one of the shire’s towns, as well as community surveys.
People got the chance to have their say about the future of our shire, and where they wanted it to take us. They were encouraged to “think big”.
The full report is available on the council’s website and there were plenty of interesting ideas that came out of the process.
In the section “what we value about Narrabri Shire”, the clear leader with 35 per cent of responses was “a friendly, supportive and vibrant community spirit”.
In “important services” it was a lot closer, with transport services (18 per cent), water and sewer (15 per cent) and parks and open spaces (14 per cent) all rating highly.
Water and sewer (21 per cent) and transport (19 per cent) services were the clear leaders in what people wanted improved.
