Narrabri to host Aboriginal LG Network meeting

Narrabri is hosting the 30th annual Local Government Aboriginal Network Conference

Narrabri is hosting the 30th annual Local Government Aboriginal Network Conference beginning tomorrow, a three day event which will focus on the spectrum of issues important to the Aboriginal and wider community.

The event brings together local government staff and Councillors who have an involvement in indigenous issues and policy on behalf of their councils.

Guest speakers at this year’s conference include journalist and TV presenter Stan Grant and AFL legend and artist Gavin Wanganeen.

Narrabri Shire mayor Cathy Redding has handed over the traditional Message stick to the chairman of the Narrabri Local Lands Council Edward Trindall which was passed to Narrabri council at last year’s conference.

“The Conference is a platform for delegates to share, learn and hear about a range of current services and issues relevant to the Aboriginal people” Cr Redding said.
