Narrabri will receive $20,000 to go towards make the town ‘healthier’ after beating off some stiff competition to win the NSW Healthy Town Challenge for 2017.
Narrabri was in a five-town race for the title, and this morning was named the winner ahead of Coonabarabran, Cowra, Grenfell and Oberon.
It was a triumph for those behind the Narrabri bid, principally HealthWISE.
It was based on the Healthier Oils program, a walking program around the Narrabri Lake, and several other initiatives including a telephone coaching service.
