New era for prime highway site

The former Country Kitchen will be redeveloped as a cafe and fuel stop.

Westside Petroleum general manager Patrick Riad, left, and managing director Terry Makhlouf at the former Country Kitchen to be redeveloped as a cafe and fuel stop.

Westside Petroleum managing director Terry Makhlouf was driving through Narrabri on his way to Gurley some time ago when he saw something that brought him to a halt.

“I was on my way to Gurley to discuss the purchase of the fuel stop there,” Mr Makhlouf said.

“As I came along Cooma Road into town I saw the site on the corner of Belar and the highway with a For Sale sign on it. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was too good a location to be unoccupied.”

Mr Makhlouf pulled over and phoned agent Davidson Cameron’s Kim Rozendaal, who confirmed that the property was indeed on the market.

Soon after, the site unoccupied for about ten years, formerly Tabner’s Country Kitchen was bought by Westside and is now only a few months away from re-opening.
