New faba bean variety released

The University of Sydney Plant Breeding Institute near Narrabri has released an improved faba bean variety which will be available to local farmers next season.

The University of Sydney Plant Breeding Institute near Narrabri has released an improved faba bean variety which will be available to local farmers next season.

The new variety is referred to as PBA Nasma, developed in conjunction with Pulse Breeding Australia (PBA) and yields up to five percent higher than existing varieties.

UNSW Plant Breeder, Dr Kedar Adhikari, has been working on the new variety for 10 years, based in Narrabri for five years.
