New stories for Kamilaroi Touchscreen project

A pair of Sydney-based filmmakers came to Narrabri Shire recently and couldn't believe what they saw.

Morgan Bennett and Alex Begetis were in Narrabri Shire recently filming stories of local Kamilaroi people.

Alex Begetis and Morgan Bennett have toured the world filming their popular travel show, but even they were blown away by what they saw in our region last week.

Mr Begetis runs Rusty Cage production company, which among other projects films a show called The Travel Bug, which screens around the world with an estimated audience of 10 million.

The host for the show is Mr Bennett, but neither were the focus when they came to Narrabri Shire recently.

Instead they were here to film segments for the Kamilaroi Stories Touchscreen project, films which can be seen in the Narrabri Visitor Information Centre and which tell the stories of local Kamilaroi people.

The pair were busy filming in both Narrabri and Wee Waa, and also around the wider shire.

You can see some of the interviews in the video above, but it is clear that those interviewed - and the surroundings - more than left their mark on the filmmakers.
