Nothing trivial about Rotary’s trivia night

Funds raised on the night will go to a number of worthy causes

Heads down and poring over the books to set the Rotary Trivia Night questions, Narrabri Rotarians Darrell Tiemens and Ralph Schulze plan to test participants’ general knowledge.

Questions prepared for the Rotary Trivia Night to be held at the Golf Club on Saturday night will be challenging but entertaining promises one of the convenors, Rotarian Darrell Tiemens.

This would not be a trivial night, said Mr Tiemens.

“We have set out to set some pretty interesting questions which people will enjoy.”

Mr Tiemens added that judges Bruce Pyke and Ralph Schultze would be rigorous in their observance of trivia night protocol - that is, no mobile phones will be allowed.

“There will be a penalty of $20 for any teams tapping into the internet for answers,” he said

“But any nurses or doctors will be exempt, as long as they can prove they are using them for an emergency call”.

Mr Tiemens and Mr Schulze are the quizmasters.

“We have a good mixture of questions,” Mr Tiemens said.

“They are all original, bespoke questions prepared specifically for the night. We have put a lot of thought into them.

“We try and write the questions based on interesting things, some quirky things, events in the contemporary sphere, sport, history, geography and local issues.”

Funds raised on the night will go to a number of worthy causes.
