Narrabri has said farewell to senior pastors Mike and Anne Ross of the Christian Outreach Centre after 15 years of service to the community.

More than 130 people attended the Ross’ final service on Sunday, January 14, with well-wishers travelling from as far as Tasmania and Coffs Harbour, and video messages coming from as far as Rockhampton and Sydney.

“It has been a privilege, serving our community as pastors,” said Mrs Ross.

“We are looking forward to retirement, spending time with family, loving God and loving others.”

The Ross’ are moving to Goulburn to be closer to family.

Mr and Mrs Ross were well known around Narrabri, having both grown up in the district.

Both invested significant time in community service, both before and during their time as pastors.

They officiated more than 30 weddings, plus many baby dedications, baptisms and funerals during their time as senior pastors.

Under their leadership the church has participated in many community events and fundraisers including battle of the bands, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, street parades, and raising money for medical research.

As is the case for many country pastors, their work also extended to other towns.
