When Pat Baker went along to the annual Narrabri Seniors lunch at The Crossing Theatre yesterday, she just expected to have a great time.
That she did, but it got even better - Mrs Baker was also named 2017 Narrabri Senior of the Year for her service to the community.
It was the second time she has taken out the honour, having done so in 2008.
A visibly surprised Mrs Baker said she was expecting someone else’s name to be called out.
“I really can’t believe it, I’m just dumbfounded,” she said.
“There’s more deserving people than me.
“I do what I do because I love it, I just love helping people.”
Mrs Baker wasn’t the only success story of the day.
The revamped event was a great result for the hardworking committee that decided to take it over this year, something commented on by many of the more than 160 seniors who attended.
