Narrabri Shire Council has taken the proposed development of a Narrabri industrial park to link with the Inland Rail project to the next phase.
The council will call for tenders from a specialist consultant to develop a master plan for the industrial area.
The council is developing the tender specification to identify what will be needed from the consultant, the kinds of businesses which would be attracted to and suitable for the industrial park.
“After we call for tenders for a consultant we expect to have a report to council in the first quarter of this year,” general manager Stewart Todd said.
The council has received a grant of $300,000 to prepare the master plan.Mr Todd said the development would be an industrial park, not simply an intermodal hub, with attendant new industries and flowm on of employment.
