It’s almost time again for the annual Red Cross Calling, one of the organisation’s major fundraisers, but the Narrabri branch is no annual wonder - it has been keeping busy all year round.
The group is fresh off taking part in Monday’s emergency exercise pictured on the front page of this edition of The Courier.
About 10 members were the ‘passengers’ in the exercise conducted at Narrabri Airport and others fulfilled the roles expected of Red Cross volunteers, in partnership with all other Narrabri emergency services personnel.
“I’m very proud of those ladies,” said Narrabri Red Cross president Kath Davis, who herself acted as one of the ‘patients’.
As Mrs Davis put it, it was part of “us doing our bit for Narrabri”.
Red Cross members take part in a wide range of activities from volunteering for Meals on Wheels, visiting the elderly and making the rugs pictured on this page (which will be supplied to aged care homes).
“We do other community activities too, it’s all about helping people in need,” Mrs Davis said.
