One of Narrabri Shire’s oldest residents, Rose McNamara, passed away this morning.
Mrs McNamara was 103.
Her daughter-in-law Joan McNamara said Rose passed away at Whiddon Robert Young after a short illness.
A woman of great religious faith, Rose McNamara drove a car until well into her 90s.
Her passing also marks the end of one of the few remaining links to the World War I era.
Born in November 1913, before the war started, she started school about the time it was coming to an end.
She lived through every Armistice (Remembrance) Day and Anzac Day that has been held.
Mrs McNamara is survived by six of her seven children, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
