Telescope still starring

The Australia Telescope Compact Array recently played a part in a major discovery.

STILL DISCOVERING: Australia Telescope Compact Array electronics group leader Peter Mirtschin and senior systems scientist Jamie Stevens at the Culgoora facility - you can read a description of what is on the monitor next to Mr Stevens in The Courier, Tuesday, April 11.

The Culgoora-based Australia Telescope Compact Array has played its part in finding an unusual ‘dance’ in the universe.
Astronomers have found evidence for a star that whips around a black hole about twice an hour.
According to NASA, this could be the tightest orbital dance ever
witnessed for a likely black hole and a companion star.
The discovery was made using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory as well as NASA’s NuSTAR and the Australia Telescope Compact Array.
