Newcomer Donna Young loves Narrabri.
“I have only been here about six weeks since I moved from Muswellbrook and everyone is so friendly,” Mrs Young said.
“I just love the town.”
And her welcome has been made even more special by the generous action of an anonymous stranger.
“I was in a Maitland Street store [recently] and bought some things, which added up to about $30,” Mrs Young said.
“I was in a rush to get to work and tapped my card, grabbed my things and headed out to the car.
“Then the young man from behind the counter came out as I was in the car and said ‘oh, madam, your card has been declined.’
“I passed back my purchases and said ‘I’ll just transfer some from another account over the phone and come back in.’
“Then while I was sitting in the car doing the telephone banking before going back in to the store another young man, a customer, came out with the things I had bought and handed them in.
“‘Here you go,’ he said. ‘I didn’t want to see you to have your day ruined’.”
But not knowing who he is, Mrs Young now wants to find and personally thank him.
