Tibbereena Street truck roll

Truck rolls over on busy street

Emergency services attend to an overturned water truck on Tibbereena Street on Tuesday evening.

A truck driver has been fined for negligent driving after his vehicle rolled over on Tibbereena Street on Tuesday evening.

Inspector Robert Dunn, of Narrabri police, said the water-carrying vehicle was turning the corner from the Narrabri Creek bridge about 5.50pm when the driver, a 58-year-old man, became distracted and veered out of his lane.

“When he realised what had happened, he veered back in to the correct lane but the evasion action he took shifted the load and the truck toppled over,” Inspector Dunn said.

The driver was not injured. Narrabri Fire and Rescue cleaned up a diesel spill at the scene and the Volunteer Rescue Agency helped right the truck.

The driver was fined $439 and lost three demerit points.
