Tatts Cricket Club’s first grade skipper Jake Packer took over as the side’s captain at the start of last season.
It took him no time to adjust to the new role, and that showed as he guided his side to its first premiership in 10 years.
He has fond memories of that day, which is a driving force behind his hunger to make it back-to-back titles this Saturday.
That is just one thing that has motivated he and his men.
Another is the feeling that went through the side when it lost to Crossroads - its opponents this Saturday - in the final round of the competition.
With that loss the side let first place slip through its fingers.
On Saturday that could quickly be forgotten.
Packer’s side is searching for its fourth consecutive grand final win in all competitions, after claiming the past two T20 finals and last years 45-over clash.
Packer said that he was confident that his men could achieve that milestone, and said it started from the top.
“I’m pretty excited,” he said.
“It’s always good to be in the finals.
“I want to go back-to-back and defend the title."
