Charity Cup event a great success

Narrabri Youth Shack’s Anna Dugdale is handed the cheque for $15,000 by Narrabri District Cricket Association president Brendon Ward at the completion of the Charity Cup Town v Country match on Friday, December 8.

The Narrabri District Cricket Association joined forces with the Narrabri Shire Youth Shack to plan for, organise and run the fourth Town versus Country Charity Cup match last year.

And what a job they did.

In total $15,000 was raised, which was significantly higher than what was made at previous cups.

On the field the action was breathtaking.

Civeo skipper and Town opener Lachlan Cameron produced a man-of-the-match performance, striking 14 fours and 10 sixes.

Other notable performances were from Town’s Jordyn Mowle (4-24 from four overs as the only multiple-wicket taker), Country’s Coby Cornish (53), Country’s Chris Sargent (49*) and Town’s Craig Gleeson (42).

Off the field it was a very successful night.

There was a massive crowd, one which NDCA president Brendon Ward described as the biggest he’d seen in Narrabri.

Ward was very pleased with how the night went, and praised the volunteers at the Youth Shack.

“A lot of credit should go to Anna [Dugdale] and the crew at the Youth Shack,” Ward said.

“They had to basically call and get in contact with every single one of the sponsors and see if they could seek some support."
