Jacko Walsh ready to rumble in Woy Woy

Jackson Walsh is going after his first title

Mick Doherty puts Jackson Walsh through pad work.

Narrabri’s Jackson Walsh hit the road earlier today.

His destination was Woy Woy on the NSW Central Coast.

There, the 16-year-old boxer will compete at the National Novice Boxing Titles.

He will fight in the 74-78kg 16-years-and-under division, for boxers who have had five fights or less.

Walsh has just had one competitive fight.

Matches in Walsh’s divisions begin on Friday morning, and his first round opponent is unknown.

The day will run as a knockout format - win and progress, or lose and be eliminated.

The amount of fights Walsh will have to win is not yet known.

That will be determined by the number of the amount of boxers who nominate for that division.

Should four boxers nominate, Walsh would have to win one fight before contesting the final.

Should 16 nominate he would have to win three fights before contesting the final.

And so on.

Should Walsh win the necessary number of matches, and then the final, he would hold the belt for his division.
