Joan O’Neill is the face of touch footy in Narrabri - there is no doubt about that.
And after 25 years of service to the game in NSW, most of which she carried out right here in Narrabri, O’Neill was recently recognised at the NSW Blues awards night.
The ceremony was held on Saturday, October 14, at the Canterbury Sports Club.
At an “exciting and formal affair”, O’Neill received a NSW Touch Association Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of 25 years distinguished service to Touch Football NSW.
She was also nominated for the administrator of the year award on the night.
She said that it was a wonderful feeling to receive the award.
“I feel very privileged to be acknowledged after all these years,” O’Neill said.
