The Boggabri and District Rugby League Football Club fielded its first under-18s side in a Group Four competition in more than 30 years on Saturday.
Playing in front of a home crowd the junior side challenged the Kootingal Moonbi Roosters, and celebrated a 34-10 win.
The side, coached by Matt Avendano, outscored the Roosters six tries to two and five goals to one.
Earlier in the day the Boggabri ladies’ league tag team went down 44-4 against Kootingal Moonbi, then in the main game the Roosters beat the Kangaroos 40-20.
The junior Roos impressed in their first competitive match of the 2018 under-18 season, despite playing against a Roosters side which fielded just 12 players.
Jono Crow bagged two tries, and Will Maggs, Bailey Lennox, Dawson Fordham and Issac Harris crossed for one each.
Crow kicked five goals to finish the match with 18 points.
Michael Long was a standout for Boggabri, picking up three Group Four best and fairest points.
Teammate Hawken Durrant was awarded two best and fairest points.
