Narrabri soccer teams Crossroads Eleven FC and Narrabri FC will kick off their 2018 Namoi Soccer League seasons on Saturday when they meet each other in a local derby.

However, the sides did not originally expect to meet this weekend.

Until this week the competition was set to include four teams - the two Narrabri sides, Wee Waa and Moree.

In round one Narrabri FC was to host Wee Waa while Crossroads was scheduled to travel to Moree.

But earlier this week Moree expressed its intention to enter two sides.

That was accepted, which saw the competition become a five-team one.

That resulted in a draw change.

The two Narrabri teams were scheduled to meet in round two, but that has been brought forward a week.

Both clubs were pleased to be kicking off the season with the derby.

One of the key battles this weekend will see one of the best defenders in the competition, Crossroads’ Brady Jenkins, look to contain one of the best young players in the competition, FC attacker Colby Williams.
