Local golden girls shine in Tamworth

Local pony club trio return home with wins after Tamworth event

Narrabri Pony Club members Molly Michell-Smith riding Ballymount Lord Rubin, Eliza Dampney riding Junefield Brandy and Meagan Dampney riding Junefield Finarlee. The trio competed at the Tamworth Pony Club showriding, sporting and showjumping days last month.

Three Narrabri Pony Club members rode in Tamworth at the Tamworth Pony Club showriding, sporting and showjumping days last month.

Eliza and Meagan Dampney and Molly Michell-Smith competed against riders from Tamworth, Moree, Quirindi, Kootingal, Gunnedah and Bourke, with about 60 riders competing on each day of the two-day event.

Meagan was crowned reserve champion senior rider and reserve champion hack on Junefield Finarlee in the showriding.

She was also awarded reserve champion point score in the 15-17-years sporting.

Meagan then teamed up with Eliza, and the sister duo won the pair of hacks together.

Eliza placed second in 11-under -13-years handler and rider and was the winner in bareback.

Eliza also rode her new mount Junefield Brandy in the sporting, placing second in a number of events.

Molly Michell-Smith placed third in her rider and fourth in her hack on her new young Pony Windason Park Shine in the 13-under-15-years.

Molly placed fifth AM5, third A2 and second AM7 in the D-grade showjumping on her horse Ballymount Lord Rubin, and was awarded reserve champion D-grade showjumper.

Finally, Meagan placed second in the D-grade A2 show jumping.
