Three names were recently added to Narrabri’s impressively long list of national sporting champions when Narrabri Bowling Club trio Graham Spence, Peter Hobday and Cameron Yates won the 2018 BPL Cup.
The trio travelled to Club Pine Rivers last week to compete at the national leg of the competition.
After wins on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the Narrabri men qualified for the grand final.
They won that comfortably, downing North Toowoomba to be crowned champs.
The BPL Cup is a faster format of triples bowls, where teams compete against one another in two sets across five ends a set.
A tie breaker is played if the match finishes one set each.
Over the past five years Bowls Australia has held six Bowls Premier League events.
In 2014 Bowls Australia also launched a new national participation initiative, Jack Attack, which is played at over 200 venues.
The BPL Cup is a combination of the two, offering club sides like Narrabri the chance to qualify for and compete on the national stage.
It is somewhat of a BPL second division.
The Narrabri men played their first matches in the competition back in August.
