They came together at the start of the season as four keen tennis players who did not have a full team - hence the name Leftovers.
Brian Williams, Scott Castleman, Stacey Etheridge and Tracey Leven gelled immediately, and they were the best team over the 10 weeks of competition-play, claiming the minor premiership.
In the semi-final they knocked off the previous tournament’s winners Britto’s Engineering (formerly Wee Waa Bakery) 27-17.
Then, last night, they challenged Marcel’s Team (which beat Digby’s Team 36-12 in their semi-final).
Marcel’s team consisted of Warwick Moppet, Richard Baranski, John Welsh and Alistair Hillard.
And it was the underdogs, Marcel’s Team, which raised the shield on the night, downing Leftovers 32-23 overall, and four sets to two.
In the third-placed-playoff Britto’s Engineering downed Digby’s Team 28-26 in a nailbiter.
In B-grade Spinners, which featured Amy Cathcart and Lacey, Caitlan, Shelley and Justin Bourke took out the title on points.
They met Lakers on the final night, in a contest where the winner would claim the title, and they won 32-27.
