The Narrabri Eagles recently set a goal for their final three rounds of the 2018 AFLNW season - win all three.

And on Saturday the side took a significant step towards achieving that with a memorable victory ahead of two more winnable games in the final two rounds.

At ‘the Eagles’ nest’ Leitch Oval, Narrabri welcomed fourth-placed Tamworth Swans.

Playing in special charity match guernseys, the home side won the match 16.14 (110) to 14.11 (95) to post its fourth victory of the season.

This weekend the Eagles meet last-placed Moree, before taking on the Tamworth Kangaroos in round 18.

Both of those matches will be played on the road.

In the Eagles’ final home game of the season on Saturday it was a well-rounded team performance for the side.

However, several players really stood out and made their mark on the match.

Ben Maddern was front and centre, producing a best on ground performance.

Maddern kicked four goals and was a class above the Swans, both with the ball in hand and without it.

Teammate Tom Mackey was also on another level.

Mackey kicked a game-high six goals and was the Eagles’ next best, followed by another standout Ray Nixon who kicked three majors.

Michael Leven, Tom Denyer and Dan Nixon were Narrabri’s other dominant performers in the contest.

Denyer kicked one of his side’s 14 goals, while the remaining two were shared between Corey Robinson and Daniel Hughes.

The Eagles laid the platform for the victory if the opening seven minutes of the contest.
