Jackson Walsh wins National Novice Titles final in split decision in Woy Woy

The sportiest town in Australia has once again made its mark on the national arena.

And this time it was inside the boxing ring.

The town has been marked on the boxing radar for a few years now as the home of the Davey brothers - Brendan and Shannan.

And now a third star has emerged in Jackson Walsh, who won his first title in just his third fight last Saturday.

The 16-year-old, the son of Elizabeth and Andrew Walsh, competed in two fights at the National Novice Boxing Titles at Woy Woy Leagues Club, the first of which was on Friday night.

He fought in the 74-78kg 16-years-and-under division, for boxers who had fought five fights or less.

Walsh had fought just once competitively prior to the Titles.

The second fight in which he was involved was the final, which he won on a split decision to earn the right to hold the belt and be called the champ.
