The Narrabri Blue Boars under-14s rugby union team finished off an undefeated season in style on Friday night in the regional under-14 competition grand final.

The Blue Boars took on Armidale in the decider and won the premiership with a 28-15 victory.

Narrabri scored two converted tries either side of the break to register 14 points in each half.

Josh Briggs finished with 15 of his side’s 28 points, with teammate Joey Fowler scoring the other 13.

Narrabri led 14-10 at the break, after Josh and Joey both crossed for tries in the opening half, both of which Joey converted.

Armidale scored a converted try of its own, as well as a penalty goal, to keep itself in the contest.

In the second stanza Josh crossed for two more tries to finish with a hat trick.

Joey converted both of those goals.

Armidale could only manage one try in the second half which it failed to convert.

That saw Narrabri win the second half 14-5, and the match 28-15.

The win ended a perfect season for the Blue Boars.

As reported in last Tuesday’s Courier the 2018 regular season saw the Blue Boars register nine wins on the park, two via forfeit, and no losses in an undefeated season.
