The Narrabri Blue Boars women’s rugby sevens side played its first games of the 2018 Central North Rugby Union season on Saturday.

At a gala day at Chillingworth Oval, the home of CNRU club Pirates in Tamworth, Narrabri played four 14-minute matches.

It won one of those in a convincing manner.

In the eighth match of the day, which was Narrabri’s third, the Blue Boars took on Gunnedah.

They won that match 31-0.

Jessie Schwager bagged a double in that match, while Abby McClure, Daisy Robinson and Chelsea Hancock crossed once each.

Earlier in the day the side went down 7-0 to Scone in its opener, before losing 21-0 to inverell.

In the final match of the gala day Narrabri lost 36-0 to the hosts.

Those results saw Narrabri finish round one in fourth place on the five-team ladder.

It picked up two bonus points on the day.

The first was for losing by seven or less in a 7-0 defeat to Inverell, and the second was scoring four or more tries in its victory against Gunnedah.

The team scored five tries in that game.

That left it on nine points, just two behind third-placed Scone, which won two matches on the day.

Last-placed Gunnedah totalled four points after losing all four matches.

Tamworth Pirates are first on 19 following four wins, and Inverell are close behind in second on 17 points following three wins and a 12-10 loss to the Pirates.
