Blue Boars storm into decider

Second grade grand final rematch against Moree looms after a big win

Matt Nott scored a try for Narrabri in his return from injury on Saturday.

The Narrabri Blue Boars second grade side scored a comfortable preliminary final victory against the Tamworth Pirates on Saturday.

The Blue Boars travelled to Weebolla Oval in Moree to compete for a spot in the 2018 grand final.

They led 26-7 at the break after outscoring the Pirates four tries to one, three of which were converted.

Narrabri then won the second stanza 19-7 after scoring three tries to Pirates’ one.

The Blue Boars added the extras twice in the second half.

That saw the Narrabri men secure a 31-point victory and qualify for the 2018 second grade decider.

In that match the Blue Boars will play the Moree Bulls.

It will be a grand final rematch, after Moree won the battle between the two sides 22-18 in the 2017 decider.

On Saturday Luke Tuckey scored a hat trick of tries for Narrabri, Lachlan Burtenshaw bagged a double and Matt Nott and Connor Parkes crossed once each.

Michael Cain slotted five conversions from seven attempts.

Another Blue Boars team was in action in Moree.

In the under-19s preliminary final Narrabri went head-to-head with Pirates. Narrabri trailed 34-0 at the break in that match.

In a much tighter second half Narrabri was outscored 12-5, as it went on to lose the contest 46-5.
